From era-defining performances to intimate shows that became the stuff of folklore, Greater Manchester's venues have played host to them all.
The Sex Pistols at the Lesser Free Trade Hall (1976)
A gig that is worth mentioning again. No list of iconic Manchester concerts is complete without this seismic event. On 4 June 1976, the Sex Pistols performed at the Lesser Free Trade Hall, sparking a musical revolution. Among that very small crowd were future members of The Smiths, Joy Division, and The Buzzcocks. This gig wasn't just a show; it was the catalyst for a brand-new punk movement.

The Courteeners at Heaton Park (2019)
The band had very much made their local outdoor venue a 2nd home. This was a night to give their fans a nostalgia trip and offer some insights into their future. The ramshackle lyrics of songs like Acrylic took everyone back to 2008 - 2011 and nights out in 42s and Fifth Ave.

New Order at Wythenshawe Park (2024)
This was a truly memorable night and one that proved that Greater Manchester's diverse range of venues is spreading quite wide now. Following on from an electric set from Johnny Marr, New Order came on stage and carried the party on until the last possible moment. This suggestion was sent to us by Josh T.
Iggy Pop at Victoria Warrington (2025)
A more recent gig but a special night at Victoria Warehouse. Fans of all ages packed into the industrial venue. Before the music started, it was buzzing with anticipation for a night that promised and delivered some raw, unfiltered chaos.
