Lowe is considered one of the most promising young players in the EFL, having impressed during a prolific spell at Walsall. He netted 15 goals and provided five assists in just 22 League Two appearances during the first half of the 2024–25 campaign.

He becomes Stockport’s sixth addition of the summer and will bolster Dave Challinor’s attacking options ahead of Sunday’s season opener against Bolton Wanderers.

A look at Lowe's career so far

Nathan, an England Under-19 international, began his youth career at Bishop’s Stortford before moving to Egerton in 2014, following his family’s relocation to Cheshire. It was there he caught the attention of Stoke City, then a Premier League side, and joined the club’s academy at the age of 10 in 2016.

He signed his first professional contract with Stoke on his 17th birthday and made his senior debut five months later, coming off the bench in a Championship match against Blackpool.

Soon after turning 18, he scored his first senior goal. It came in dramatic fashion, a stoppage-time winner that secured a 3-2 victory for Stoke away at Bristol City in only his fourth appearance for the club.

He stayed at Stoke for the remainder of the 2023–24 season, making 13 appearances in all competitions while continuing to find the net regularly for the club’s Under-21 side.

Last summer, Nathan joined League Two club Walsall on a season-long loan and made an immediate impression as the Saddlers climbed to the top of the table. He scored his first goals for the club with a brace in a 3–2 Carabao Cup win over Huddersfield Town, before opening his league account just days later against Cheltenham Town.

He finished his time at the club in fine form, scoring six goals in his final five appearances. Walsall were on an eight-match winning run and sat 12 points clear at the top of League Two, with a game in hand, when he was recalled.
