Matt Dufty crossed early for the hosts, but tries from Jack Darbyshire and Justin Sangare put Salford ahead at half-time. Warrington levelled after the break through Jake Thewlis, before Sangare and Tiaki Chan reasserted the visitors’ grip on the contest. Rowan Milnes’ late drop-goal sealed the win.
While Salford were clinical with their chances, it was their resilience in defence that ultimately underpinned the result, delivering two morale-boosting points in what has been a challenging season on and off the pitch.
A closer look at what happened
Dufty opened the scoring after just four minutes, breaking through the middle to cross the line, with Josh Thewlis adding the conversion. At that stage Warrington appeared in control, yet Salford responded with determination. Darbyshire’s try on 27 minutes, created by Harvey Wilson’s incisive break, shifted the momentum.

The visitors’ defensive resolve frustrated the hosts, and Sangare extended the advantage before the interval when he reacted quickest to Neil Tchamambe’s clever bat-back from Milnes’ kick.
Warrington struck soon after the restart, Jake Thewlis finishing from Leon Hayes’ kick, but Sangare’s second try re-established Salford’s dominance. Their cause was further aided when Adam Holroyd was shown a yellow card for a high tackle on Nathan Connell, and Chan crossed moments later to put the result beyond doubt.
With their away allocation sold out, Salford rewarded a vocal travelling support with a display of grit and character, capped by Milnes’ drop-goal that confirmed a much-needed win.
