After last week’s chaotic build-up, when players’ boots went missing just hours before the 1-0 defeat in the first leg, this was a far smoother evening for Marc Skinner’s side. With equipment in place and composure restored, United took control from the outset and were rarely troubled.
Terland opened the scoring after nine minutes, pouncing on a defensive lapse in the box, before doubling the lead four minutes later with a well-taken header from a corner. She struck the post before half-time but completed her treble midway through the second half, racing clear to calmly slot past goalkeeper Selma Panengstuen.
The result secures a landmark moment for United, who had already overcome PSV and Hammarby on their way through the qualifying rounds. They join Arsenal and Chelsea in the next stage of the competition.
Skinner’s side have also made a strong start in the Women’s Super League, sitting top of the table with two wins from two. While the schedule will now demand more of the squad, with Champions League fixtures adding to domestic pressures, United have taken a significant step towards establishing themselves among Europe’s elite.
This is a breakthrough the club has long sought and a clear sign of progress under Skinner’s guidance.

Terland's growing influence at United
Terland, who spent two seasons at Brann between 2021 and 2022, punished her former club when she drifted free at the back post to head in United’s second from a corner, putting them ahead on aggregate.
She came close to completing her hat-trick before the interval, striking the post with a curling effort, as United managed the game without ever fully asserting themselves.
Her third eventually arrived after the break, a well-timed run in behind allowing her to carry the ball into space before calmly finishing past Selma Panengstuen to seal United’s progression.
It capped an impressive qualifying campaign for the Norwegian forward, who has scored seven times in United’s four matches. Since arriving in 2024 as a replacement for Alessia Russo, she has been a key figure for Marc Skinner’s side and will be central again as they prepare to face Europe’s strongest clubs in the main draw.
