Posh have yet to claim a victory in Bolton and rarely appeared likely to take anything from a match that, in reality, should have ended with a more comfortable margin.

Burstow had effectively settled the contest with two goals in the opening quarter, and although Wanderers allowed League One’s bottom club back into the game through Peter Kioso’s neat finish, there were plenty of chances to extinguish any hope the visitors had well before six minutes of added time.

Cozier-Duberry, Cissoko and Simons all had chances to seal the win. The tight scoreline did not really reflect the one-sided flow of the game.

Which players stood out?

Chris Forino | Completed all his duties in a composed, efficient manner and was not called on for as much aerial work as recently. Came close to connecting on a couple of set pieces.

George Johnston | Like Forino, he fulfilled his defensive responsibilities while producing key interventions, including a crucial block in front of goal.

Xavier Simons | Aside from a scrappy spell in the 15 minutes before half-time, he delivered a solid performance and almost scored with a superb effort from 25 yards that struck the bar.

Mason Burstow | Would the miss at Northampton have a lasting effect? He answered that question within five minutes, scoring twice with assured finishes and showing real enjoyment in his play.

Paul, a Bolton fan, was pleased with the victory and hopes their strong home form will begin to influence their performances on the road. He said: "Our unbeaten home form is fairly decent with the last three wins in a row. Our away form needs attention as we have not won away yet, and this is where missed chances are affecting us most. We are in eighth place, so we must not grumble but that is what most Wanderers fans do anyway."
