Neither side managed a shot on target until Cozier-Duberry's curling effort from 20 yards out flew beyond Nathan Trott in the final seconds of the contest.

On the back of three successive home wins, the Trotters went into the game as one of only three sides unbeaten on their own patch in the league this season.

As for the Bluebirds, they boasted the highest away points per game total in the third tier, and while Brian Barry-Murphy's outfit had far more possession in the contest, there was nothing to separate the sides until the final minute.

David Turnbull headed wide for the visitors before Mason Burstow's volley was off target in what was a low-key opening half.

It was the Whites who began to assert themselves just before the break, with wide men Jordo Osei-Tutu and Cozier-Duberry making their influence felt. Their interplay created a shooting opportunity for Osei-Tutu that was blocked in front of the Cardiff goal.

Both sides showed some promising build-up late on but were unable to add the required quality to bulge the net as the points appeared destined to be shared.

A closer look at the late drama

Towards the end of the match, it was Wanderers who carried the greater threat as they finally began to stretch the Cardiff back line, with Cozier-Duberry consistently appearing the most likely to prise it open.

He had already drawn the first meaningful save from Nathan Trott in stoppage time, and there was still just enough time left for him to provide another decisive contribution.

Having left it late at Huddersfield, he repeated the feat here. Only seconds remained of the four additional minutes when he latched onto a lay-off from Dacres-Cogley, after captain Eoin Toal had summoned the energy to drive his team forward one final time.

While others tired, Cozier-Duberry found the strength to surge ahead once more, sweeping home his fifth goal of the season. It capped a late twist that not only secured victory but also offered further evidence of Bolton’s growing collective momentum.
