Marc Skinner's side suffered defeat in the Manchester derby over the weekend, but bouncing back will be top of the to-do list as they head to Germany.

Updates from the manager

After having to manage most of his players' minutes against City at the weekend, Skinner was asked who could feature against Wolfsburg in his post-match press conference after that derby defeat.

The United boss said: “Phallon Tullis-Joyce took a knock to the face against Aston Villa, so we're just assessing.

"Ella Toone got a scrape down her Achilles, she was fine. Simi Awujo suffered from a clash of heads and there is no concussion there.”

How are United fans feeling going into this match?

Olivia T, a United fan, told us: “It has been a strange week and a half. The defeats against Villa and City weren’t great, but the win over PSG at Old Trafford will be remembered by everyone for a long time. Progressing far in the Champions League would be amazing for us.”

A quick look at the opposition

Wolfsburg have a considerable pedigree in the Champions League, having claimed the trophy on two occasions, in 2013 and 2014.

Furthermore, their journey has seen them finish as runners-up four times. Their most recent silver-medal position came in 2023, where they were defeated by a formidable Barcelona side in the final.

In the current European campaign, they have secured two victories from their opening three fixtures. Their sole setback arrived in the last matchday, a 3-1 loss to the 2024 champions, Lyon.

Domestically, the team remains a potent force. They currently occupy second spot in the German top flight, accumulating 22 points and trailing only Bayern Munich, having registered just two defeats so far.

Key to their attack is the highly experienced forward, Alexandra Popp. The 34-year-old veteran is certainly one to monitor, having demonstrated her continued sharpness by scoring six goals across her last 10 appearances.
