The Brighton loanee, making his first start for Bolton since January, opened the scoring in the 13th minute with a confident left-footed strike from 20 yards.

Bolton doubled their lead just after the half-hour through another loanee, Celtic forward Johnny Kenny, who finished neatly following an eye-catching run down the left by Thierry Gale.

Stevenage’s evening unravelled further on the stroke of half-time when Daniel Phillips was shown a straight red card for an elbow on Kenny.

With the numerical advantage, Bolton moved further clear early in the second half as Cozier-Duberry added his second, finishing from close range after a deft flick by Sam Dalby.

Dan Kemp pulled one back in style with a superb effort in the 64th minute, but Bolton quickly reasserted control. Ruben Rodrigues combined well with Mason Burstow before guiding a composed finish into the bottom corner.

Burstow, another loanee among Bolton’s attacking options, completed the scoring nine minutes from time, reacting quickest after Filip Marschall could only parry Kyle Dempsey’s powerful attempt.
