The most significant World Cup development for Manchester United concerned Manuel Ugarte's knee injury.

The Uruguay midfielder is expected to be sidelined until 2027 after undergoing surgery to repair cruciate ligament damage. With Ugarte already considered a likely departure this summer, the setback has added further complexity to United's transfer plans.

New signing Youri Tielemens reached the quarter-final with Belgium and many fans are excited to see how fits into this United side. 

Captain Bruno Fernandes didn't have the best tournament but fans will still be confident he has another fantastic season in him. 

Then there is Kobbie Mainoo and another England player...

The 21-year-old responded impressively after repeatedly being overlooked by Ruben Amorim, producing a series of strong performances during the second half of last season. That resilience suggests he is capable of recovering from the disappointment of missing out on England's World Cup campaign.

Michael Carrick, who endured a similar experience under Fabio Capello ahead of the 2010 World Cup, may be well placed to offer the midfielder some guidance.
