United finally secure Baleba deal

Manchester United have finally secured the signing of Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba for an initial fee of £65 million.

Talks advanced significantly last week, with the 22-year-old undergoing a medical at the weekend ahead of completing his move to Old Trafford.

Brighton will receive an initial £65m, with a further £5m potentially due in bonuses. A sell-on clause has also been included in Baleba’s contract.

United first explored a move for the Cameroon international last summer, but Brighton were unwilling to consider offers below £100m. Carrick has now helped the club secure their long-term target for £35m less than the Seagulls' previous asking price.

Mateta’s representatives ‘approach’ United

Jean-Philippe Mateta’s representatives are reportedly working to find the Crystal Palace striker a new club, with one online outlet claiming Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have been approached over a potential move.

Mateta came close to joining AC Milan in January, but the proposed transfer ultimately failed to materialise.

Balde seeks Barcelona exit and potential move to Old Trafford

Alejandro Balde is reportedly looking to leave Barcelona this summer and has instructed his agent, Jorge Mendes, to find him a new club.

The defender was left out of Hansi Flick’s squad for Sunday’s meeting with Elche, while reports claim Balde is particularly interested in the prospect of a move to Manchester United.

United’s stance on Myles Lewis-Skelly after Arsenal starts

Manchester United remain hopeful of persuading Arsenal to sell Myles Lewis-Skelly, according to reports.

The Sun, citing well-placed sources, claims the England international has started the season in Arsenal’s side partly because Martin Zubimendi and Mikel Merino were involved in Spain’s World Cup final.

Arsenal are reportedly valuing their academy graduate at more than £50m, a figure United are understood to consider excessive.
