Jai Field opened the scoring with a solo run from distance before turning provider for Douglas to cross. Field then added a second try of his own, this time latching onto a kick from Adam Keighran.
Douglas touched down again before the break, capping off a dominant first-half display from the visitors. Further tries followed in the second half from Zach Eckersley and Keighran, as Wigan maintained their control.

Douglas completed his hat-trick with a minimum of fuss, underlining Wigan’s superiority. Salford, to their credit, responded late on as Nathan Connell powered over to deny the visitors a clean sheet. Jack Farrimond added Wigan’s final try in the closing moments.
The result keeps the Cherry and Whites within two points of league leaders Hull KR, who defeated St Helens on Friday evening.
For Salford, it was another difficult night in a torrid campaign. With just 17 players available, the Red Devils have now lost 12 of their 13 league matches in 2025. Connell’s late try offered a sliver of consolation and spared them the ignominy of being kept scoreless at home.

A closer look at what happened
Wigan made an electric start, racing into the lead within the first ten minutes as Jai Field collected a loose Salford kick deep inside his own half and sprinted nearly the full length of the field to open the scoring.
Field was involved again moments later, this time turning provider with a well-timed pass that sent Jacob Douglas over in the corner for his first Super League try of the season.
The pick of the first-half scores, though, came courtesy of Adam Keighran, who delivered a superbly judged kick with the outside of his left boot while running down the wing. Field latched onto it at pace and touched down to cap off a sweeping move.

Douglas added his second soon after, capitalising on another Salford error. A mishit kick from Ryan Brierley was seized by Jack Farrimond, who sent Douglas through from distance to score.
Salford showed more resilience after the break, holding Wigan at bay for nearly ten minutes. But the visitors eventually found a way through as Liam Marshall burst down the wing before offloading for Zach Eckersley to notch his fifth try of the campaign. Keighran then crossed the line himself to extend Wigan’s lead.
Salford debutant Sam Hill looked to have pulled one back on the hour, but his effort was ruled out for a forward pass from Brierley.
Junior Nsemba then set up Douglas to complete his hat-trick, while Farrimond added a final flourish with a smart finish before the hooter. There was still time for Nathan Connell to touch down and offer a moment of solace for the Salford fans enduring a tough campaign.
