Manchester United supporters have reacted angrily after thousands of season ticket accounts were placed under restrictions.

The move comes as the club steps up efforts to identify suspected ticket touts and supporters who may have breached its ticketing terms and conditions.

However, fans have told local media that many of those warned their season tickets could be revoked are among the club's most loyal supporters, with many insisting they have done nothing wrong

Those under investigation have had restrictions placed on their online accounts, preventing them from buying or transferring tickets.

What's the next step for these fans?

Supporters whose accounts have been flagged have been invited to submit evidence if they believe they have been wrongly identified.

United have not revoked any season tickets at this stage, with an independent appeals panel set to review each case before the club's Premier League campaign begins on 22 August.

Andy Thompson, a season ticket holder, told us: "I am appealing but don't know if it's worth it. Do I want to get treated like this?"

However, supporters such as Andy say they have not been told exactly what they are accused of. They argue the lack of detail leaves them feeling as though they are being asked to defend themselves without knowing the allegations, with the uncertainty causing considerable anxiety.
