Stockport are expected to field Kyle Wootton in attack once again, with the forward likely to be supported by Benony Breki Andresson and Jack Diamond.

In midfield, Odin Bailey and Oliver Norwood are set to retain their places, while Joseph Olowu, Brad Hills, and Ethan Pye should continue in defence.

Last time out for Stockport

They moved closer to the top 6 with a narrow 1-0 victory away at Rotherham United. After a quiet first half where Rotherham’s Jamal Baptiste missed the best chance, Stockport improved after the break and broke the deadlock when Ollie Norwood’s cross was headed in by Kyle Wootton just past the hour mark.

Countu could have extended their lead through Nathan Lowe and Ethan Pye, but were ultimately content to see out the win, with fans praising the clean sheet and growing confidence in the squad while also calling for more clinical finishing in front of goal.

Stockport fan Scott told us: “A solid three points. Rotherham away will be a difficult trip for others once they are back to full strength. Joseph, Pye and Hills will be immense in a back three when fit.”

Adam, another fan, added: "That was a good win for County. The referee was poor for both sides. We still need to be more clinical in front of the goal, but it is a relief to see a safe pair of hands back in goal.

A look at the opposition

The Royals are still searching for rhythm near the bottom of the table. In midweek, they lost to Wrexham in the EFL Cup but did manage a win over Leyton Orient last weekend to give their season a bit of a boost.
