The two League One sides approach the tie in contrasting moods. Wigan were well beaten 4-1 by Bolton Wanderers at the weekend, while Wycombe secured a 2-0 victory over Northampton Town.
The Latics will be concerned at the manner of their defeat in the derby. Despite conceding four goals, they faced relatively few attempts on target and created little themselves, managing only one shot on target across the 90 minutes. Bolton were already three goals up by half time, allowing them to ease through the second period.
That result left Wigan in 12th place in the table with 12 points from nine matches, though they remain within striking distance of the play-off places, just four points off sixth-placed Barnsley.
In the cup, Ryan Lowe’s side have edged past Notts County and Stockport County, both by 1-0 scorelines.

Form in recent weeks has been patchy, with only two wins in their last eight games. During that run they have conceded at least twice on four occasions, though there has been more promise in attack, with six goals in their last three fixtures.
The Brick Community Stadium has largely been a stronghold for Lowe’s side, with just one defeat in seven home games this season. Yet recent results suggest a dip, with only one win in their last three on their own ground.

Recent history between the two sides
The recent meetings between the two clubs have been decided by the narrowest of margins. Each side has claimed a single-goal victory in the past two encounters, while their most recent meeting ended in a goalless draw at Adams Park in February.
