Nottingham Forest v Manchester United preview

A win here for Ruben Amorim’s side could move them into the top four. Something that sounded a distant dream only a few weeks ago.

Team news

Lisandro Martínez has returned to first-team training this week after nearly nine months out with a knee injury. The sight of the Argentina international back at Carrington is a welcome boost for Manchester United, although head coach Rúben Amorim has confirmed he will not feature in the matchday squad at the City Ground.

Amorim also revealed that Harry Maguire remains a doubt for the fixture, having missed the last match due to injury. A shame for Maguire as we're sure the United faithful wanted to thank him in person for that late winner against Liverpool.

Last time out for Amorim’s side

Bryan Mbeumo scored twice against Brighton as they battled to earn a third consecutive Premier League victory for the first time since February 2024. This was a win that temporarily moved them into fourth place.

Key stats ahead of the match

Manchester United head into the weekend buoyed by a strong run of form, having won their last three Premier League matches. The Red Devils were one of only three sides to claim maximum points in October, alongside Arsenal and Aston Villa.

Their recent record at the City Ground, however, is less encouraging. United have lost their last two league visits to Nottingham Forest and have not suffered three straight away defeats there since the late 1960s.

Forest, meanwhile, have enjoyed recent success in this fixture, winning each of their last three league encounters with United, a feat they last surpassed in 1910. Yet their current form paints a different picture. The side have lost six of their last seven league games (drawing the other) and are without a goal in four successive defeats. They have not endured five consecutive league losses since October 2022, nor five without scoring since January 2004, when they were in the Championship.
