Ruben Amorim shortlisted for manager of the month
More positive news for Manchester United
The United head coach has been shortlisted for the Premier League manager of the month award after Manchester United won all three of their league games in October.
United’s next fixture comes on Saturday, when they travel to Nottingham Forest, with the winner of the monthly accolade to be announced on 1 November.
There is a long-held belief that the award brings misfortune, often followed by a dip in form. Yet after the difficult spell Amorim has endured since taking charge at Old Trafford, he will no doubt welcome the recognition.
His predecessor Erik ten Hag claimed the honour three times, while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won it once. To the frustration of some, neither José Mourinho, Louis van Gaal nor David Moyes managed to do so during their respective reigns at the club.

Liam C, a Manchester United season ticket holder in the Stretford End, said: “Since the defeat to Brentford, Amorim deserves real credit for the turnaround, particularly for his decision to leave Benjamin Sesko on the bench at Liverpool and go with the mobile front three of Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount and Bryan Mbeumo.
“Amorim has had his fair share of criticism, so it’s only right to acknowledge when he gets things right. In the bigger picture, I think United have brought in two genuinely top-class forwards in Cunha and Mbeumo. The club have made plenty of poor signings in recent years, but not this time. These are two excellent additions.”
The upcoming match against Nottingham Forest will mark a year since Amorim was appointed as United boss. In a recent press conference building up to the match, he said: "It was a journey, a big journey. It was really tough, good moments and bad moments. I learned a lot. I found that even in lower moments, I can stick with the things I believe. Today the answer is better than three weeks ago. It's one of the biggest honours of my life, I want to stay here for many years."
