Adama Sidibeh struck inside the opening moments, though his afternoon was cut short by injury, paving the way for Kyle Wootton to step in and extend the lead before the interval. Ollie Norwood added a late third in stoppage time to complete a convincing performance.
The result keeps County in fifth, now three points clear of seventh-placed Stevenage. Their destiny is very much in their hands now.
It took less than two minutes for Stockport to go ahead
Sidibeh turning in a low cross from Ben Osborn after a sharp move down the left. Wimbledon threatened an immediate reply but Omar Bugiel headed wide from Steve Seddon’s delivery.
The visitors continued to press, with Callum Maycock firing off target from close range and Junior Tchamadeu Nkeng denied by a fine save from Corey Addai. That stop proved pivotal, as Stockport broke swiftly and Wootton, on for the injured Sidibeh, finished decisively after being teed up by Tanto Olaofe.

Wimbledon pushed again after the break, Ryan Johnson seeing a header tipped onto the bar by Addai, who was increasingly influential. Further efforts from Zack Nelson and substitute Kai Jennings also drew strong saves as the visitors searched for a way back.
Instead it was Norwood who had the final word, his left-footed strike from the edge of the area in added time putting the seal on a result that underlined Stockport’s growing authority in the play-off race.
