Is Bruno Fernandes a Manchester United legend?

This is the question that we have been asking Manchester United fans

Since signing for the club, he has been integral for United under several different managers

Josh T: Winning trophies is always a collective effort. Becoming a club legend, though, demands sustained commitment and hard work, qualities Bruno has shown from the outset. I would have no hesitation placing him alongside George Best, Eric Cantona, Bryan Robson, Denis Irwin and even Bobby Charlton.

Liam C: Give United a proper engine room in midfield and there is every chance they can dominate the Premier League again and deliver Fernandes the honours his performances merit.

Lee Francis: Fernandes should be regarded as a legend irrespective of silverware. Without him, United might well be looking over their shoulder at the Championship.

Vincent T: There is no doubt United would be in difficulty without him. At times, though, he can be a liability, too prone to complaining rather than encouraging. He is not another Bryan Robson.

Jeremy: For me, Bruno’s status does not hinge on winning the Premier League. Few captains can match his output, alongside two trophies and four finals. The context is different now, even if United have fallen short of past standards. Still, seeing him lift the title at Old Trafford would be something special. A future United manager, perhaps.

Lewis: A legend? Without question. It is hard to imagine where United would be without him. He cannot carry the burden of the other 10 players alone, though he does inspire them. And in those great United sides of the past? He would surely have found his place.

Kevin: Bruno has carried an underperforming side, elevating those around him season after season. That alone puts him among the greats. Bryan Robson was my hero, but Bruno’s standing among supporters and teammates is comparable, if not greater. He may well be United’s finest overseas signing, staying longer and delivering more than most. During difficult spells, he seemed to keep the club afloat almost single-handedly. Had he played under Alex Ferguson, the honours list might have been even longer. One of United’s greatest? Absolutely.

Terrence: I would place him in the same bracket as Martin Buchan, Lou Macari or Steve Coppell, players regarded as legends despite not lifting the league title.
