Adama Sidibeh’s first-half opener for County was cancelled out by Adam Phillips early in the second period, before Oliver Norwood restored the advantage from the penalty spot. Benony Andresson added a late third deep into stoppage time to confirm the result.

County went ahead in the 23rd minute

Barnsley goalkeeper Kieren Flavell failed to deal with a Norwood cross, spilling it into the path of Sidibeh, who finished confidently.

Corey Addai produced an outstanding save to deny Phillips from close range, but Barnsley responded soon after the interval. Corey O’Keeffe delivered back into the area and Phillips made no mistake, levelling in the 53rd minute.

Norwood then put Stockport back in front with less than 20 minutes remaining, converting from the spot after Charlie O’Connell was judged to have fouled Josh Stokes.

Andresson wrapped up the points in the ninth minute of added time, guiding the ball beyond Flavell and sparking celebrations among the travelling support, with a semi-final meeting with Stevenage now awaiting.
