More than a month after Pep Guardiola announced he would step down as manager, Enzo Maresca has been appointed as his successor on a three-year contract.

Having identified Maresca as their preferred candidate from the outset, City's hierarchy remained calm throughout the process, even as the season ended and players and staff headed off for their summer breaks.
Senior City sources insist there is no ill feeling towards Chelsea, describing them as a club with whom they enjoy a positive relationship. They maintain the contractual dispute, which has now been resolved, was solely between Chelsea and Maresca.
Those within the club speak highly of the 46-year-old, who is well known after spells in the academy and as Guardiola's assistant. He now takes on the task of building on the philosophy established by the departing Spaniard.
