The victory gave head coach Eva Olid her first victory since taking charge in August.

Captain Maya Le Tissier opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the first half, before the floodgates opened as Wales forward Mared Griffiths claimed a hat-trick.

Context going into the match

Olid's side arrived at the match having collected their first Women's Super League point of the season at Arsenal on Saturday, following an opening-day defeat by London City Lionesses and a 5-0 thrashing by Chelsea.

Germany forward Lea Schüller scored twice in Wednesday's rout, while summer signing Rebeca Bernal also struck twice. England midfielder Ella Toone and Jess Simpson completed United's scoring, while Amy Andrews grabbed a consolation for the Blades, who sit bottom of WSL 2.
