Mancheater United fans celebrate earlier in the season after a 2-1 dramatic win at Anfield

Michael Carrick’s side are 11 points clear of sixth place (fifth place is guaranteed Champions League for next season), and they can seal their return to the top European competition next season on Sunday after a three-year absence.

Even if they are not playing great at the moment and their performances have not been too convincing, they are still winning and have Bruno Fernandes on the verge of history with one more assist needed to equal the Premier League record of 20.

A good record in the big games this season

The Red Devils beat Liverpool this season under former boss Ruben Amorim. This happened after a late winner from Harry Maguire. Since then, under their current Interim boss, they have also beaten Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea.

Kobbie Mainoo's first game since signings a new contract

Earlier in the week, United announced that midfielder Kobbie Mainoo had signed a new five-year contract until 2031.

The 21-year-old's previous deal at Old Trafford, signed in 2023 when he was still 17, was due to expire in the summer of 2027, and his fresh terms better reflect his progression and current status in the first team.

Mainoo's future at United seemed uncertain under Ruben Amorim, who gave him just one Carabao Cup start before being dismissed in January.

After requesting a summer loan move, Mainoo has reclaimed a key role under Michael Carrick and earned an England recall with his standout displays for United.
