Manchester United and Leeds United played out a goalless draw on their first pre-season outing

Debuting the club's new white away shirt with white shorts and socks to boot, summer additions Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon both impressed on their maiden appearances for the club, at the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm.

The two best opportunities fo Amorim's side came at the end of either half, when a deflected Casemiro cross struck the woodwork, and there was the same outcome for Kobbie Mainoo's header late in the second, while Tom Heaton made a string of impressive stops after the half-time interval.

The contest ended without either goal being breached. The United boss Ruben Amorim will look back on this one as a useful first workout of the pre-season campaign, with positive signs evident in both halves, in front of more than 45,000 fans (mostly belonging to Manchester United) in Sweden.

He comes from Paraguay... Leon impresses in first match

Whisper it quietly, but Manchester United may have unearthed a gem in young full-back Diego Leon.

The club had already taken a series of notable steps that suggested the recruitment staff saw something special in the 18-year-old, even before he featured in their goalless pre-season opener against newly promoted Leeds.

For one, United chose to invest in bringing the Paraguay Under-20 international across from South America, a move that hinted at a longer-term plan for his development.
